Share some personal information about yourself. What defines you? What are you passionate about?
I am Jennifer Thompson, 38 years old and a mother of 4 great kids. It wasn’t until my late twenties that I came to realize that fitness is my passion. I am now a certified personal trainer and love helping people obtain their fitness goals and become healthier. I have just formed my business, Advance Fitness, LLC.
What motivates you to tackle your fitness goals? Feel free to talk about your athletic background, health goals, competition endeavors, modeling goals, etc.
My background was really in endurance sports, until about 2 years ago, when I started to lightly get into lifting. I was a marathon runner and trainer for 6 years. I went on to compete in Ironman competitions before I moved to bikini competing.
What has been your proudest fitness accomplishment to date?
My proudest moment for myself was completing the 140.6 Ironman for the first time. As a marathon coach, some of the people I helped cross the finish line gave me a great sense of accomplishment and pride.
What do you love most about the fitness lifestyle and being in shape?
I love pushing myself to be better, sometimes *too* hard. I like to prove that being a woman in her late 30’s with kids can look a certain way, and that a busy life doesn’t have to mean “no time” for being in shape. I want to always be walking proof of that, it’s one of the reasons I love fitness.
What’s been the hardest obstacle to overcome in your path to reaching your goals?
The biggest obstacles have been my self image and my relationship with food. I am still working hard on those things, so it would be premature to say I’ve fully overcome them.
Tell us about your future goals and dreams, relating to fitness or otherwise.
My future personal goals are to obtain an NPC Pro card and make a name for myself in the industry. My business goal is to have a thriving business where I can help people be healthy and change their lives.
What’s your favorite “clean” meal or food item?
My favorite clean meal is simple chicken with grilled kale, onion and tomato.
Your preferred treat meal?
For my cheat anything and everything covered in chocolate.
What type of training do you like best?
Taking a break from endurance is hard for me but I do like lifting now.
What kind of music helps motivate you in the gym?
I like the every day pop or techno music when I lift.
Your favorite motivational quote. What thought helps you get moving when exercising is the last thing on your mind?
I just think about pushing myself. I like listening to Eric Thomas for motivation.
What’s the best piece of advice you can offer someone who’s looking to get in shape or reach her fitness goals?
It’s your body and it’s worth your time to make it as healthy as possible. Keep pushing eventually you’ll get there and then up it to a new level.
If there are any people you’d like to thank for helping you on your journey, do so here!
I’d like to thank a few people! First Tom, my fiancé, my kids, and Olesya!!
Would you recommend Olesya’s coaching services to others? If so, please describe what made your experience positive. If not, why not?
Yes! I loved the knowledge that she provided. The responsiveness was amazing, she’s always there. She’s compassionate yet truthful when I needed to hear it. Couldn’t ask for a better coach!
